Hiiii I’m Joanna! Even though I’ve spent most of my life on the East Coast, I was actually born in Mexico City and grew up in New Delhi, India, before moving to the United States as a curious preteen.
For whatever reason, I always felt drawn to helping others. Emotions and empathy are my oxygen. But as a teen and young adult, I struggled with the comparison trap and battled perfectionism. I did well, on paper, but I was burdened with a negative inner dialogue that upheld limiting beliefs about my worthiness and enoughness. I lacked the compassion for myself that I so readily gave to others.
So, I went on to study psychology. It intuitively made sense. But it was not until living in New York City for graduate school that I started to do the inner work. I began tuning into my self-talk, searching for self-understanding, and immersing myself into the world of yoga, health and wellness, and mindfulness. Looking back, my self-love journey was only getting started.
Because then, a heartbreak brought me back to the Washington, DC area. The art of slow living gave me the headspace I needed to breathe and be during such a turbulent phase of my life. I learned to let go of people and things that were not serving me. I embraced change as inevitable, instability as an invitation for gratitude, and a lack of control as a reminder to trust what the universe had in store for me.
I truly do believe that our vulnerability is one of our biggest strengths. When we allow ourselves to feel all the feels and still be accepting of ourselves, no matter what challenges we are facing, we grow. And that’s where I come in! I want to help you get there, too. You are meant to be exactly wherever you are right now, with whatever hurdles and struggles are sabotaging your life plans. You are not alone! With me by your side (well, on your phone), I will listen, support, and encourage you to show up for yourself and your life. You are worthy, deserving, and capable of positive change, and I would love to be part of your journey.
